Take a Token: The Original Germany Hofbrauhaus
The Original in Germany

On May 17, 1632, Munich, Germany found itself in conflict with the Swedes. They were ready to cause destruction until the Hofbrauhaus decided to serve their troops. The tavern provided over 6,120 gallons of beer to the Swedes, calming the situation and ultimately saving their city! At this point, the tavern was not yet open to the public. Beer has been an expensive luxury transported from the North until this time. Hofbrauhaus made beer more available than ever to locals.
The tavern which functions as it does today, opened to the public in 1828. King Ludwig the 1st allowed the public to purchase food and beverage here and the rest is history. This King is also known for birthing Oktoberfest in 1810 during his 1st marriage.
Bavarian Music

In 1988, the establishment moved to where it is today. This provided a space grand enough to fit the high volume of customers the establishment receives. The original tavern boasts Bavarian music every day with ample spaces designated for your everyday guest and any extravagant event you may host. Live music plays daily from 12:00pm – 4:00pm and again from 6:00pm to 11:00pm. This location is home to over 500 musical events per year!
Beer Tokens
The Munich establishment even uses historic beer tokens. 1 token = 1 liter of beer, just like the old days. When you buy 10 tokens, 1 is free, so bring all your friends when you plan a fun night out here! The tokens never expire, so if you don’t use them all, hold onto to them. Many token users boast these tokens are better than currency because one token will always be good for one beer– regardless of inflation! Every year the tokens boast a new design, so regulars can even form a collection.
